Description: Use two fabrics to create a striking block!
This block is made using the Starmaker® Six Master Template available
from Kaye Wood, Inc. You may make the basic block or add additional
sections to make the block larger.
Single Block: 10" finished
Fabric Requirements (for one basic block):
Two Different/Contrasting Strips of fabric 2" x 40"
Assembly: (Using ¼" seams throughout)
| Step 1: Sew strips right sides
together along both long edges. Tube piecing saves fabric and
speeds up the cutting process.
| Step 2: Place the Starmaker®
Six along the bottom of the tube strip. Cut along this angle.
| Step 3: Turn the Starmaker®
Six in the opposite direction to cut the second side. The dotted
line on the Starmaker® Six should lie along the bottom edge of
the strip. The Starmaker® Six should hit the top of the strip at
the point of the triangle.

Step 4: Cut the second triangle by
placing the Starmaker® Six with the dotted line at the top of the strip.
Continue turning the Starmaker® Six to cut 6 diamonds for each star.
Step 5: To open the diamonds
you need to rip out the stitches on the short seam of the diamond.
Then press the seams to one side.
Step 6: Trim the little "wings"
hanging out over the edge of the diamonds.
Step 7: Sew the diamonds together
with the points into the center. Sew diamonds together in two sets
of 3 diamonds each. Then sew the two sets together to form the star.
Step 8: The stars may be
finished by appliquéing to a background square, or they may
be joined with additional diamonds cut from the same strips.
