- Remember that the printed pattern is a mirror image of the design.
You will be placing your fabric on the unprinted side and sewing on
the printed side of the letter pattern.
- Piece in numerical order.
- "B" means background fabric and "M" means main fabric that you
pick for the letter.
- Main Fabric:
- Cut one strip 3" x 27"
- Cut into three 6 ½", one 4" and two 3 ¼" lengths
- Background Fabric:
- Cut one strip 2" x 12 ½"
- Cut into two 3 ¼", and three 2" lengths
- Make two copies of the letter "B"
- The pieces marked 4B, 5M, and 6M need to be pieced together
before adding them to the whole letter.

Piecing Multiple Section Letters in The Alphabet Quilt
- Cut the 4,5,6 out as one piece leaving a generous seam allowance
around this extra section from one of your copies of letter B
- Sew 1M, 2B and 3B together.
- Sew 4B, 5M, and 6M together on the second cut copy of letter B.
- Press well and trim to ¼" around that extra section.
- Sew to the 1,2, and 3.
- Rip the seam allowance off the extra section on the seam you
have just sewn.
- Now finish the rest of the pieces in the letter in numerical
order, pressing as you go. Trim the block on the dotted lines.
