The fourth letter in our series. Are you doing theme fabrics? Or a certain color scheme? Think of what you can spell now BAD, CAD, DAB, CAB, BAA-oooo get out those lamb fabrics or those yellow with black & white mini checks for the CAB. Make sure to read the Alphabet Quilt General Instructions before beginning.

  1. Make one copy of letter D


  2. Remember that the printed pattern is a mirror image of the design. You will be placing your fabric on the unprinted side and sewing on the printed side of the letter pattern. Read Foundation Piecing Basics Vol 1 for general paper piecing instructions.


  3. Main Fabric:
    • Cut one strip 3" x 24"
    • Cut into one 6 ½", two 5", one 4" strips
    • Cut two 2" x 2" squares

  4. Background Fabric:
    • Cut one strip 8" x 7"
    • Cut one 4" x 4" square
    • Cut two 2 ½" squares


  5. Piece in numerical order. Place 1B face down on side of the paper without lines by placing a small amount of glue stick in the center to hold it while you place the second piece.


  6. Add Piece number 2M and then number 3M in the two corners.


  7. Continue adding 4M, 5M, and 7M Pressing between each step.


  8. Then add 6B, 8B, and 9M. Pressing between additions.


  9. Press well and trim ¼" around the finished size of the letter.
