Diane Albeck-Grick says, “Quilt for the love of it! Slow down and let your mind wander back to a simpler time when your only worry was whether or not the rope on your tire swing would hold or break. Go grab your scrapbag, pull up a chair, and sit a spell. Together we’ll take a stroll up Squier Lane. “
In “Quilts From Squier Lane”, “we find simpler basic utility quilts patterned in this book. They are patterns that a beginner can easily achieve and at the same time offer a ‘piece-ful’ reprieve for the more advanced quilter.“
Each historical quilt design includes good illustrations and instructions, to make the quilt pattern. They are also accompanied by some interesting stories of the past from Diane’s family. It is wonderful to have a little history along with learning about how to make a quilt. Quilts with the names Lampshade Lucy, Album Block, Double T, Dessert Plate, Postcards From The Past, Dove In The Window, Mattie’s Memory and Squier Scraps A Tumblin’ are just a few of the patterns in the book. Some sound traditional, but the ones with unique names sound interesting enough to make, also.
This is a great book to purchase for your personal or guild library, and it is at a reasonable price. Look for this book at your favorite quilt shop.
