Want a hand-sewn look for your quilts, but made on your sewing machine? Kim Diehl’s “Simple Blessings” has some wonderful traditional quilt designs in some new variations. Her choice of fabrics and style of designs have that old world look.
In the general directions you will a find comprehensive guide to fabric selection, patchwork principals (such as rotary cutting, pressing, & machine piecing), competing the quilt top, fusing techniques, and her own method of machine appliqué made easy using invisible stitches.
I liked the original designs she has used, the color combinations, and especially the quilting patterns used to finish the quilts, which are so well photographed they are clearly visible. The designs are an inspiration to me, and gave me some great ideas for finishing some of the many quilt tops I have made.
This is a thick book with a great number of good ideas packed within its’ pages. Add this to your personal or guild library. Look for this book at your favorite quilt shop!
