Description: This block has a lot of movement and would look good
repeated for a very interesting quilt. The example uses only 3 fabrics, but would be great
using 2 or 4 (or more) fabrics. One variation is to make the center section the 4th color.
See the examples below. Note the various placements of fabrics in some of the other examples.
Changing the number and placement of fabrics makes the block look completely different.
Finished Block Size: 12"

Cut four 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares

Assembly: (Using ¼" seams throughout)
Of one block

Step 1: Using the four Dark
squares and four of the Light squares, sew 8 half square triangle
squares using

Step 2: Using the
four Medium squares and four of the Light squares, sew 8 half
square triangle squares using
.

Step 3: Using the Row Sewing Layout
diagram for placement; sew the half square triangle squares together into Rows
1, 2, 3, & 4. Press the seam allowances on Rows 1 and 3 in one direction and the
seam allowances for Rows 2 and 4 in the opposite direction. Doing this will
enable the seams to butt up to each other and make the whole block lay smoother.

Step 4: Sew the Rows together into
the finished block. See Mosaic Twirl Block Layout. Press your seams
open or in one direction.
