Make three(3) copies
of letter S
Remember
that the printed pattern is a mirror image of the design. You will be placing your fabric on the unprinted side and sewing on the printed side of the letter pattern.
Read Foundation Piecing Basics Vol 1
for general paper piecing instructions.
Main Fabric:
Cut a strip 2 ¼" x 25 ½". Sub cut into three 6 ½” strips and two 2 ½" squares
Background Fabric:
Cut one strip 2 ¼" x 19". Sub cut into two 5 ½" strips and 3 2 ½" squares cut in half diagonally once to make 6 small triangles.
The following pieces
need to be pieced together before adding them to the whole letter:
4B and 5M
9B and 10M
11M and 12B
Read
Foundation or Paper Piecing Multiple Section Letters in The Alphabet Quilt
Piece
in numerical order. Place 1B face down on side of the paper without lines by placing a small amount of glue stick in the center to hold it while you place the second piece.
Add
Piece number 2B and then number 3B.
Then
add Section 4B / 5M
Continue
adding 6M, 7B and 8B.
Add
Section 9B / 10M.
Finish
by adding Section 11M / 12B and then 13B.
Press
well and trim excess fabric and paper to ¼" around the finished size of the letter.
