Review: By Dori Hawks

Once in awhile a very “special” book comes along and “At Piece With Time” is just such a book! In Kristin Steiner’s words her book is a ‘feast for the senses.” Designed with a beloved travel journey in mind, it is a collection of favorite souvenirs. Stunning watercolor illustrations by Diane C. Frankenberger grace every page. Recipes, old and new, are tucked in here and there to tantalize the taste buds. Inspiring quotes and heart warming stories connect quilters across time. Just importantly, space is provided in the “travel log” for you to record your thoughts and feelings.

This book contains 12 quilt blocks, and a large central medallion block combining appliqué and piecing. Between the instructions and “cutting recipe” for each block are wonderful sayings, personal remembrances and fantastic drawings by the two artist, Kristin and Diane, who have conspired to develop this book which is a true work of art in its’ writing and illustrations.

It is time to go on a journey through quilting and writing your thoughts in a journal. What a wonderful book, truly a masterpiece. Definitely add this book to your personal or guild library. A thank you goes to Kristin and Diane for this inspiration for our souls.

Look for this book at your favorite quilt shop!
