Description:
This block can be done in only two colors, or three as shown, or more. Have fun with it. Highlight a special fabric or pair this block with another block for a totally different look.

Fabric Reqs For Block: (Example fabrics in parentheses)
  • 4 ½" x 20" Light
  • 4 ½" x 27" Medium
  • 4 ½" x 37" Dark
Cutting Instructions
Piece Shape # Fabric Instructions  
A  8  Light Cut four 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.
B  10 Medium Cut five 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.
C  14 Dark Cut seven 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.

Assembly (1/4" seam allowance throughout):
Instruction Diagram
Step 1: Sew one light triangle A to one dark triangle C. Press seams open or to toward the dark. Repeat for five other A's and C's (6 A/C units)
Step 2: Sew a medium triangle B to a dark triangle C. Press seams open or toward the dark. Repeat for seven other B's and C's (8 B/C units)
Step 3: Sew a light triangle A to a medium triangle B. Press seams open or toward the light. Repeat for one more A and B. (2 A/B units)
Step 4: Refer to diagram for block unit placement. Sewing Row 1: A/C, B/C, B/C, A/C. Press seams open or going in one direction.
Step 5: Sewing Row 2 : B/C, A/C, A/B, B/C. Press seams open of going in the opposite direction as Row 1.
Step 6: Sewing Row 3 : B/C, A/B, A/C, B/C. Press seams open or going in the same direction as Row 1.
Step 7: Sewing Row 4: A/C, B/C, B/C, A/C. Press seams open or going in the same direction as Row 2.
Step 8: Refer to diagram for Row placement (ex. Row 1 and Row 4 are mirror images) Sew Rows together. Press seams open or toward one side.
