Valerie Bonhivert has been quilting since the mid 1980's when she took her first class with a friend and began teaching in 1996. She has been very active in her local quilt guild holding positions including President, Vice President, Quilt Show Co-Chair, Program Director and Block of the Month Coordinator where she began to develop original patterns. She has won many ribbons at art shows and county fairs. In addition, Valerie has had a quilt pictured in the book "Trouble Free Triangles" by Gail Bong. In 1999 Valerie and close friend Lynn Ray purchased a Gammill Quilting Machine and started Harmony Quilting. Valerie continues to develop her quilting skills and is currently designing and publishing original patterns under the name of Quilters Stitch Together (www.quiltersstitchtogether.com) a company she co-founded with her good friend Beth Hartford in 2001. Beth and Valerie use their experiences as teachers to write instructions that are easy to follow. In addition to being a quilt enthusiast, Valerie is a volunteer for Canine Companions for Independence a nonprofit organization that provides highly skilled assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
Valerie lives with her husband, daughter and dogs in Northern Illinois.
