Cutting Pinwheels for the Whirlwind Block posted: 6/25/2003

1. This is one method of cutting the Pinwheel piece for the Whirlwind Block Pattern.
2. Cut the rectangle that is required for the block that you are making. In this example, for the Whirlwind Block, cut a rectangle 9 3/8" x 4 3/4".

 
3. You are going to cut a corner off of the rectangle by laying your ruler on the fabric rectangle with the 45 line along one long side. See Illustration #2.
4. Using your rotary cutter cut the corner off.
5. What you have remaining is the large pinwheel section to use in your block. The triangle that is left is for your scrap bag.
