Time To Quilt: Fun Quilts And Retreat Ideas For 1 to 101
by Anne Moscicki

From her heartfelt letter "Wish You Were Here," Anne Moscicki
leads us on a quilt retreat far from our daily lives. "Whether you have a weekend or and
afternoon, a retreat is purely a state of mind." The quilting retreats Anne and her
friends plan once a year "provide balance in their lives. Quilting provides us with
a relaxed sense of sharing in both a historical continuum and a circle of friends."
In between, some wonderfully organized and well thought
out instructions for quilt projects for retreats, group quilts and exchanges are
suggestions and ideas to make the most of your time for quilting. Like scheduling
even one day or an afternoon once in awhile in your home, and sending your family
off to pursue other activities so you can have some uninterrupted free time. There
are even some simple "put on to simmer" recipes scheduled to be ready when your
personal mini retreat is over.
For each of the main projects, there is a bonus secondary
smaller project using some of the same elements from the main design.
One section of the book explains how to have a successful
group quilt project, explaining things like how to describe the fabric choices to
the participants and how to choose the quilt design by thinking of a theme, event,
recipient, etc.
Anne has also included some "fun & games" to try at your
next quilt retreat or event, and some wonderful tips to carry you through the entire
quilting project from getting the right "mindset" to binding and adding a label.
The photos and illustrations are terrific, along with very clear and simple
instructions. Even the cover looks rich and glorious. I loved this book and cannot
wait to try some of the projects.
