  1. Remember that the printed pattern is a mirror image of the design. You will be placing your fabric on the unprinted side and sewing on the printed side of the letter pattern. Read Foundation Piecing Basics Vol 1 for general paper piecing instructions.

  2. Piece in numerical order.

  3. "B" means background fabric and "M" means main fabric that you pick for the letter.

  4. Main Fabric:
    • Cut one strip 3" x 33"
    • Cut into one 6 ½", four 4", and two 2" lengths

  5. Background Fabric:
    • Cut one 4" x 5" piece
    • Cut four 2" x 2" squares
    • Cut two 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares

  6. Make three (3) copies of letter C

  7. The pieces marked 8B, 9M, & 10B and 6B, 7M, & 11B need to be pieced together before adding them to the whole letter. Read Foundation or Paper Piecing Multiple Section Letters In The Alphabet Quilt

  8. Cut the 8,9,10 and also the 6,7,11 as two separate pieces in the paper pattern leaving a generous seam allowance around these extra sections from two of your copies of the letter C.

  9. Sew the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 together on your main paper letter.

  10. Sew 6B, 7M, and 11B together on one of the extra paper letter section.

  11. Sew 8B, 9M, and 10B together on the other extra paper letter section.

  12. Press well and trim to ¼" around the extra sections.

  13. Sew each of these sections to the main letter.

  14. Rip the paper seam allowance off of the extra two sections of the seams you have just sewn.

  15. Now finish sewing the rest of the pieces in the letter in numerical order, pressing as you go. Trim the block on the dotted lines.
