Date Issued: April 1, 2003
Date Due: October 1, 2003

Pick out an actual old quilt or picture of an old or antique quilt. You may reproduce the quilt so it looks just like the original, make a smaller version, or make a modern interpretation of the old quilt. There are no restrictions on size. We will post pictures of all the challenge quilts on the web site after the deadline. Don't send us the quilts, just email us the pictures and information about the original quilt and the challenge one. (see below)

Let us know of your desire to participate in this challenge by emailing us your name to submit@thequiltercommunity.com and put "Challenge" in the heading.

When your challenge is finished, email us the following (By October 1, 2003):

Your Name
State you are from
Title of The Quilt
Description (include where you found the antique quilt or picture, why you wanted to make this quilt, methods you used in making the challenge quilt, etc)
Size of antique quilt, if known
Size of your challenge quilt
Picture of the Antique Quilt
Picture of the Challenge Quilt

This is theQuilterCommunity.com's first challenge...come and participate. Have fun with this great way to continue a legacy of quilt making. Our guild had a challenge like this a few years ago, and the results were very exciting! One family antique quilt was falling apart, and the quilter made an exact replica of it, as it would have been when it was a new quilt.
