Description:
A great block to practice your points with. Combine it with other blocks for an interesting quilt, or repeat the block with different fabrics for a scrap look. Try using all florals for the Melon pieces and greens for the pointy pieces. Try making a block for each state using the state flowers fabric.

Finished Size: 12" x 12"
Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate

Fabric Requirements For Block:
  • Background: 14" x 14" piece...you can cut it down after applique is finished
  • Melons (M) 10" x 22"
  • Points (L) 14" x 7"

Refer to Making Templates for Appliqué

Cutting Instructions (Letters may not match those in template)
Piece # Fabric Shape
M  4  Cut four Melon (M) pieces.
L  2 Cut four Pointy (L) pieces
B  2 Background one piece 14" square (you will cut this down after applique)



Refer to Placement Of Appliqué Pieces for position of each piece.

Assembly Order (Using your favorite method of applique: Hand Applique, Fusing, Satin Stitch by Machine)

Instruction
Step 1: Appliqué four Pointy (L) pieces
Step 2: Add four Melon (M) pieces
Step 3: Press and trim block to 12 ½" x 12 ½"
