Review: By Dori Hawks

One of the first thoughts as you look at this book with its full-color two-sided fold out front and back covers is that it is beautiful! The pictures of the quilts and gardens are just inspiring. There are 14 wonderful bed quilt projects, including some “extras” and over a dozen mouth-watering recipes. And what quilter do4esn’t rank food up toward the top of what she loves most. Hmmmm, good! Most of the pictures were taken on location at Bed & Breakfast Inns in Washington state and Virginia.

Appliqué and piecing are both included in the projects, this is a book that will appeal to many of us or to the quilter who would like to try it all.

Mimi includes a discussion about her visits to many B & B’s and says, “each place I visited I imagined quilts to make for the beds. These experiences inspired me to write this book.” She goes a step further to make some creative ways for you to make your own guest room in your home a special place to those who visit you.

The projects are varied, and are combined with simple and clear instructions accompanied by fantastic photos and illustrations. I enjoyed “reading” this book from the B & B introduction to each quilt’s description, and the mouth-watering recipes…now I am having guests next weekend….I cannot wait to get the guest room ready!

Look for this book at your favorite quilt shop!
